Jenna continues to expand her dancing repertoire and share her love and knowledge of these dances with others. Although she enjoys pretty much any type of dancing and music you can move to, her first love is Lindy Hop. Her energy and passion create the perfect environment for learning, creating challenging yet applicable lessons.

Jenna has attended, coordinated, and taught various workshops and exchanges all across the globe. Some of her favorite highlights are performing at Benaroya Hall in The Jump Session Show and teaching for Lincoln Center’s Midsummer Night Swing. Above all else she believes that learning to dance should be fun. With over 10 years of teaching/coaching experience, she loves finding new ways to connect with other dancers on the floor and in the classroom.

Jonathan Stout and His Campus Five ft. Hilary Alexander

Jonathan Stout and his Campus Five, featuring Hilary Alexander is the nation’s premier swing dance band. Showcasing the small-group sound of the late 1930’s and early 1940’s, the Campus Five is the most danceable swing band anywhere. The 7-piece Campus Five captures the true sound of the Swing-era, with all the energy and excitement that inspired millions to dance. Influences include the Benny Goodman Sextet, Artie Shaw's Grammercy Five, Count Basie's Kansas City Six, and the Harlem-based small groups of Illinois Jacquet, Cootie Williams, Coleman Hawkins, and Hot Lips Page.

Jonathan Stout and His Rhythm Busters

Jonathan Stout and his Rhythm Busters, featuring Hilary Alexander is the newest band from the Campus Five family, and it focuses on the rollicking sound of big bands of the early 1930's, just prior to the Swing-era. The Rhythm Busters is an 11-piece band that takes the authentic Hot Jazz sound of bands like Jimmie Lunceford, Fletcher Henderson and Chick Webb, and presents them in the most danceable way possible, without sacrificing any of the fire or excitement the Campus Five and Orchestra are known for. The Rhythm Busters were created because promoters wanted another flavor, but one that keeps the unmatched danceability and contest music of our other bands.

Candy Jackets

The Candy Jacket Jazz Band is comprised of some of the best swing practitioners in the United States. Since forming in 2016, they have successfully forged their own path through the modern day "vintage" jazz scene.

The group, led by composer/arranger/drummer - Josh Collazo, prides itself on performing original compositions in a style that is reminiscent of the famous jazz & swing artists of the 1930's & 1940's. Tight arrangements, clever hooks, and a heavy dose of swing allows the bands signature sound to shine brightly through. No carbon copies here though - just solid playing filled with musicality, skill, respect, and deep knowledge of jazz history to build upon.

Thanks to a loyal fan base, The Candy Jacket Jazz Band has had the pleasure of performing at many national events, such as Lindy Focus, The International Lindy Hop Championships, DCLX, and The Redwood Coast Music Festival. A few highlights include headlining at The Wiltern Theater (LA), Swingin' at the Savoy (SF), and The 2017 San Diego Jazz Festival.

Don’t Worry…. more is in the works!

Shelby Johnson (Dallas, TX)

Yehoodi-Headshot-300x300.jpg

Shelby Johnson is a self-proclaimed music snob, who fell in love with jazz at an early age listening to the sounds of Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington and Count Basie. He really fell in love with swing music in the 6th grade thanks to a music appreciation class, and later started playing jazz in the 8th grade after 3 years in band as a drummer and percussionist. In high school, Shelby started playing the vibraphone and would transpose his parts for most pieces, as many pieces didn’t provide written music. This developed Shelby’s ear for music that was a huge catalyst for him catching the swing dance bug in 2011 in Orlando, Florida. And BOI, what kind of journey that has started! 2 years later, Shelby became one of the premier DJs in the Southeast, being featured at exchanges in Florida and South Carolina. In 2013 Shelby moved to Dallas, TX, where he continues to deliver awesome syncopated tunes for Lindy Hop, Charleston, Balboa and Collegiate Shag. Shelby’s passion for social dancing, teaching and competing landed him the 2016 Frankie Manning Ambassador Scholarship to Herrang Dance Camp where he expanded his knowledge on Jazz Dance and Music History. Two years later Shelby was awarded the Spirit of Lindy Hop Award at the 2018 Camp Jitterbug and Northwest Lindy Hop Championships after taking on more of an active role in working to provide a safer dance space for people of color and bringing up issues for non hearing people.

Chip Self (Denver, CO)

Chip began DJing swing music over ten years ago in his home scene of Auburn, AL. Since then he’s DJed in cities all across the southeast in states such as Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee and Florida, but he now calls Denver, CO home. His DJing style is one which honors the classics but isn’t afraid to blend in the contemporary as well. From Dixieland to Gypsy and New Orleans style to European, there’s bound to be something new and exciting to get you up and onto the dance floor. Always up for a dance or a chat about music, come say hello!
